When I say “we teach life skills” that means even when it’s difficult. “Public speaking” means some kids crash out their first try at a speech. “Financial literacy” means some kids lose all their investments. “Doing hard things” means sometimes there are tears. The key is the Adult Guides. Always there encouraging, supporting, and being the consistent, kind, yet strong voice to get them through the tough times.

We don’t do busy work, homework, or class-paced

We don’t do busy work, homework, or class-paced learning. As a result, we spend afternoons working on these “school projects” - which are actually legitimate business ventures that students can (and have in past graduating classes) snowball into real world occupations.

Our goal is to equip kids for real life. How to apply for grants, raise funds, make connections, work with developers and manufacturers, manage teams, set audacious goals, manage money, and so much more.

By focusing on a “Masterpiece Project” every afternoon of every day, our high school students get a massive leg up on the skills they’ll need as professional adults, and can choose a traditional or non-traditional path as graduates with tools to succeed either way.

We want our students to be creators, not consumers. What do you think?

Reducing class size definitely helps. But the real

Reducing class size definitely helps. But the reality is, class sizes will never be small enough for students to get the individual attention they need. When AI apps do the bulk of academic instruction (not chatbots) this allows every student to get the 1-1 tutor they need. It also frees up educators from lecturing and lesson plans. An AI tutor is great at knowing what each student knows and doesn’t know, filling in academic holes from years before in just a few short months.

➡️ 1. I’ve visited the most expensive private schools and the most underfunded public schools. In many cases, the only difference between the two is just a fancier building with fancier furniture in it. 👀💸

➡️ 2. Homework is harmful. Students need time to rest, recharge, and take a brain break once school is over.

➡️ 3. Standard report cards are pointless. Letter grades don’t convey enough information to parents or students to be helpful.

➡️ 4. Your child might not actually be at grade level like you think they are. (Yes, even if they have good grades!) Thanks to grade inflation and social promotion, students are increasingly being advanced to the next grade without having truly mastered the skills and knowledge required.

➡️ 5. Technology is being used in the wrong way in most schools. Kids are glued to Chromebooks all day, but not utilizing Edtech to personalize learning. Implementing AI tutoring is the future of education because it allows each student to move at their own pace and level.

➡️ 6. Participation trophy culture at school is harming kids. Let kids miss out on experiences that they didn’t earn and let them feel sad about it- this is a crucial step in growth.

➡️ 7. Academics shouldn’t take longer than 2 or 3 hours per day.

➡️ 8. Memorization is overrated- in the way school does it today. Kids have learned that they only need to memorize facts and processes long enough to pass a test, and then promptly forget what they just learned. Instead, spaced repetition can help make sure students have the important facts they need memorized stay memorized (fast math!). Help students see how knowing their knowledge allows them to better apply it to new challenges.

➡️ 9. Money doesn’t fix everything. Even if your school received more funding, the core issues would likely still remain, and kids would still fail to thrive. 😬

➡️ 10. Kids desperately need to learn life skills before launching into adulthood. Unfortunately, the traditional school model is locked in the past and has not prioritized this. Students need to learn financial literacy, grit, growth mindset, giving and receiving feedback, entrepreneurship, audience building, and more.
